Teen becomes first Carson Scholar from Carson Family Club

Hayleigh M., a graduating senior at Whitmer High School, is one of our two Carson Scholars this year, becoming the first Carson Scholarship recipient from the Carson Family Club.

She joined the Carson Family Club in 2015, where she works at TEC Teen. She also serves as a cheer coach and is a member of the Keystone Club.

At Whitmer, Hayleigh was part of the Whitmer Medical Academy, AVID and journalism programs.

She also has volunteered with ProMedica, assisting nurses and aides with patients, and Barefoot at the Beach. She also helped with a Christmas president drive, a food drive and with summer activities and events through her church.

Her future plans include attending the University of Toledo and majoring in social work to fulfill a desire to work with children.

“During my time at the Boys & Girls Club, I have realized that I genuinely enjoy and seek to make a positive impact in the lives of youth,” Hayleigh said. “Depending on their situation, kids feel they don’t have a voice to express themselves, and I want to be that to help them.”
