COVID-19 Policies and Procedures


Health & Safety (Responsible Restart Ohio)


  • All Employees are required to wear facial coverings at all times, except for one of the following reasons: 
  1. Facial coverings are not advisable for health reasons 
  2. Facial coverings are not required when the employee works in an assigned work area when proper social distancing is maintained.
  3. Facial coverings are not required when the employee works alone in an office with the door closed.
  4. Facial coverings are not required when the employee is alone in a vehicle.
  5. With the exception of item #1, employees need to carry masks to be prepared to wear them when they work outside exceptions #2-#4.

 

At minimum, facial coverings (masks) should be cloth/fabric and cover an individual’s nose, mouth, and chin.

 

  • Employees must perform a daily symptom self-assessment
  • Employees are required to wash hands regularly

 


Visitors


  • Non-essential visitors will be limited.  Non-essential volunteers, including Trustees and parents are not to enter the building.
  • Trustees, if you need to meet with anyone who works in the building, we ask that you use a Zoom (or other online service) to meet virtually whenever possible. If your meeting subject requires a face to face visit, please contact the person(s) that you wish to meet with and ask them to check on the availability of the Conference room for your meeting.
  • If you have to visit the building, please follow all CDC / BGCT Safety procedures, including taking your temperature, wash / sanitize your hands, social distancing (at least 6 feet separation) and follow the BGCT policy regarding wearing masks.



Monitor and Plan for Staff Absenteeism (per CDC tips to protect employees’ health)


  • BGCT will actively encourage sick employees to stay at home
  • BGCT will comply with all aspects of the CARE Act regarding employee absenteeism
  • Flexible policies for scheduling and telework
  • Staff must have up-to-date emergency contact information in their employee file

 


Social Distancing


  • Minimum of 6 feet must be maintained. (Responsible Restart Ohio)
  • Stagger arrival/dismissal of members (BGCA, Responsible Restart Ohio)
  • Designated Medical Needs Area
  • Reinforcement of social distancing through visual and verbal cues (BGCA)
  • Field trips and Bus usage is prohibited
  • Programming will include measures to meet emotional needs of members (BGCA)

 


Screening Methods (per CDC Example) [paper copies should be available for screeners]


  • Masks will be given to youth before being screened
  • Temperatures will be taken before entering the building with a non-contact thermometer
  • Visually inspect child for signs of illness, which could include flushed cheeks, rapid breathing, or difficulty breathing (without physical activity), fatigue, or extreme fussiness.
  • Persons who have a fever of 100.4 or above or other signs of illness will not be permitted into the facility.
  • Perform hand hygiene
  • Wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.

 

 

Face Coverings (per CDC)


  • Must be worn at all times upon entering the facility, while on duty, and upon leaving the facility
  • Wash hands before putting on face covering



Parent Pick Up (per CDC)


  • Designated staff will escort youngsters to their parent/guardians
  • Parents/Guardians will be instructed of the following day’s events

 


Cleaning, Sanitizing, and Disinfecting (per CDC)


  • Guidance for Cleaning & Disinfecting Tool will be utilized to develop cleaning schedule (CDC)
  • A designated isolation area will be available should a member or employee become sick while at work
  • Daily, routine cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting will be performed by professionals when members and staff are not in the building
  • Frequent cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting of high-touch surfaces and related programming areas will take place throughout the program day
  • All cleaning materials will be kept in a secured area
  • Cleaning products will be used when children are present
  • Program equipment will be cleaned daily
  • Equipment that cannot be cleaned and sanitized will not be used

 


Healthy Hand Hygiene Behavior (per CDC)


  • Proper handwashing posters will be placed near sinks
  • All members will be supervised by staff to ensure proper handwashing is taking place
  • All children, staff, and volunteers should engage in hand hygiene at the following times:
  • Arrival to the facility and after breaks
  • Before and after preparing food or drinks
  • Before and after eating or handling food, or feeding children
  • After using the toilet or helping a child use the bathroom
  • After coming in contact with bodily fluid
  • After playing outdoors or in sand
  • After handling garbage
  • Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If hands are not visibly dirty, alcohol-based hand sanitizers with at least 60% alcohol can be used if soap and water are not readily available.

 


Food Preparation and Meal Service


  • Meal servers will wash hands before serving food
  • Gloves and hats/hairnets will be utilized by meal servers
  • Meals will be served in designated areas
  • Tables and chairs will be sanitized before and after meals

 


Vulnerable/High Risk Groups


  • Staff age 65 or older, or with serious underlying health conditions are encouraged to assess risk with healthcare provider to determine if they should stay home

 


Infectious Disease Preparedness and Response Plan


  • All CDC and Lucas and we will update changes
  • If an employee or member becomes sick while at work, they should be separated from everyone else and sent home immediately
