AT&T contributes $20,000 to the Clubs
for Power Hour and technology programs

TOLEDO – Boys & Girls Clubs of Toledo recently received a $20,000 contribution from AT&T to enhance its homework help and technology programs.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Toledo has nine locations across Toledo, serving about 4,000 members aged 7 through high school graduation.

“We are deeply grateful to AT&T and the AT&T Foundation for their generous support of Boys & Girls Clubs of Toledo. Their commitment to our young people — especially through Power Hour and instructional personnel — is making a real difference in the lives of kids who need it most,” said Jim Ravas, Boys & Girls Clubs of Toledo president and CEO. “Because of this gift, more children will have the tools, guidance, and encouragement they need to succeed in school and beyond. We thank AT&T for investing in their future — it’s an investment that will pay dividends for generations to come.”

Power Hour: Making Minutes Count is the Clubs’ daily homework help program that promotes academic success among members. The Clubs also require a NetSmartz Internet safety program that covers personal safety, shopping safety and ethical use of the Internet before members can use computers in the Clubs. The local program follows the Boys & Girls Clubs of America curriculum designed in collaboration with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children to develop NetSmartz.

"Our continued investment in bridging the digital divide is part of our commitment to helping ensure that every community can thrive in the digital age,” said Mark Romito, external affairs director, AT&T Ohio. “By dedicating resources to this cause, we hope to empower more people to use these tools and find success in education, employment and innovation."

This contribution is a part of the AT&T Connected Learning® initiative to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption. AT&T is committing $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030.
